The Certificate in People Practice is a foundation programme designed to reflect the CIPD Profession Map and the professional membership criteria.
The primary purpose of this qualification is to develop learners’ knowledge and skills to build their expertise, inspiring them to undertake tactical tasks that deliver value.
The programme provides a firm foundation in all areas of people practice and an understanding of those practices in a business context. It will help you develop practical, essential people practice skills and give you the confidence to be more assertive at work and add value to your function. The Certificate is a competence-based qualification which will require you to complete a variety of assessments for all of the four units.
If you have any questions, require any further information, or would like to attend an information session please contact Sally Mack at CIPD@nhc.ac.uk or 01462 443065.

The programme is delivered using a combination of teaching on a unit basis and independent study, guided learning over a period of approximately 25 weeks (afternoon and evening) or 50 weeks (afternoon only or evening only).
Students are expected to match the teaching delivery with independent study.
This is an assessment-based qualification which includes a range of assignments from skills, written assignments assessed ‘in classroom’ and virtual learning environment activities such as case studies, online discussions, blogs and wikis.
This course is delivered at our sister organisation – North Hertfordshire College’s campus in Stevenage. It provides a rich study environment where you can collaborate with other learners and draw on each other’s experiences, through workshops and one-to-one tutorials.
For future dates, please get in touch.
Acceptance on to the course is via an interview with the Programme Manager.
It is useful but not essential that students have access to people practice policies and practices and can liaise with practitioners to support successful completion of assignments.
Learners must also satisfy the requirements for a sufficient standard of writing skills assessed by an interview with the Programme Manager.
